Although the risk of encountering a problem is low, Intel recommends that a full and verified backup of data be performance before attempting to apply this update. ================== Known Restrictions ================== None ======================= Contents on the package ======================= The following files are included in this zip: Name: Description: cvupdate.efi update tool License_v2.pdf License Agreement RS25AB080_RS25SB008_TMMB_FWUPD_0016_readme.txt This file TMMB_upd_0016.rom TMMB update file update.nsh UEFI update script file ========================== Installation instructions: ========================== UEFI (EFI 2.0) instructions for applying this update. ----------------- Method 1 updates only the first controller in the system. If there are more than one RAID controller in the system, please follow the Method 2 manual update procedure listed below. Method 1: Only 1 RAID controller in the system: 1. Download and extract all files to a local drive. 2. Boot the target system to EFI shell. 3. Change directory to the local drive and directory containing the flash update files and the firmware image file. 4. Type "update.nsh" 5. Wait for the update to complete. Do NOT reboot the system during the update. Method 2: With 2 or more RAID controllers in the system: 1. Download and extract all files to a local drive. 2. Boot the target system to EFI shell. 3. Change directory to the local drive and directory containing the flash update files and the firmware image file. 4. Type "cvupdate.efi" to output the list of controllers in the system. Note the "idx" number of the controller to be updated. Example output: LSI MR Firmware update tool v1.1 idx BBU/SuperCap vid did svid sdid Product name ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0 CVMPM02 1000 5B 8086 3513 Intel(R) Integrated RAID Module RMS25CB080 1 iBBU-09 1000 5D 1000 9361 LSI MegaRAID 9361-8i 5. Type "cvupdate.efi TMMB_upd_0016.rom X" where X is the controller idx number to be updated. 6. Wait for the update to complete. Do NOT reboot the system during the update. ============================= Package Details/Fixes/Updates ============================= Intel has identified a number of improvements in the Gas Gauge firmware settings of the Intel product family of RAID controllers and RAID modules. Many of these improvements are the result of proactively reviewing the Gas Gauge firmware settings based on worst case component tolerances and performing Life time calculations/simulations to ensure Cache Offload completes successfully during the entire period the SuperCap is in service. The proposed improvements are grouped into three buckets: 1. Critical changes which are absolutely required. 2. Changes that are recommend to be included in the product changes. These primarily are margin improvements that might have caused a low failure rate either in our factory or with other customers. 3. Minor changes that improve the product quality and reliability. Fix #1. Eliminate the condition where a known good SuperCap will be declared as “Bad” prematurely when gas gauge bumps charge voltage to next level as SuperCap ages. Update FAULT Configuration register in the gas gauge to disable assertion of FAULT for legitimate charge bump. Fix #2. Eliminate reporting of SuperCap failure when learn cycle fails to complete successfully due to component tolerances. Update Taper Voltage setting stored in the gas gauge to take into account of the worst case component tolerances.Fix #3. Address the condition where gas gauge device does not appropriately increase the charge voltage required to complete COL successfully as SCAP ages. Incorporate latest FW from gas gauge manufacturer that fixes this issue.Fix #4. Adjust the gas gauge parameters to assure reliable product performance over the life of the super-cap. Update Cache Offload related parameters stored in the gas gauge. Update COL Power, Time and Min Voltage settings. *Third-party trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
