VT6202 (4-Port USB 2.0 Host Controller, Discrete PCI Adapter) 2. *VT8235* (6-Port USB 2.0 Host Controller, Integrated South Bridge) 6) Directory Layout: \Win98&Me: VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver and Filter Drivers for Windows Me and Windows 98/SE are put inside. \Filter_nt: This folder contains two filter driver for Windows 2000 and Windows XP. \WinXP_SP1: This folder contains a Microsoft signed INF file for VIA USB 2.0 host controller under Windows XP SP1. NOTE: In order to conform to the redistribution agreement between Microsoft and VIA, You can ONLY use SETUP.EXE to install driver in Windows 2000. 7) Driver installation: a) Windows XP Please go to "Windows Update" (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to Install Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver or Windows XP Service Pack 1. b) Windows 2000 Setup will install Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver. ************************* ** Driver Installation ** ************************* Click the SETUP.EXE program and select "Install" button then it will install the "Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" automatically on your Windows 2000 system. It will copy the driver to the system folder and set the related registry tree. *************************** ** Driver Uninstallation ** *************************** You could remove the "Microsoft USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" by selecting the "Uninstall" button. It will completely remove the driver from the sytsem. c) Windows Me/98/SE Setup will install VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver. ************************* ** Driver Installation ** ************************* Click the SETUP.EXE program and select "Install" button then it will install the "VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver" automatically on your Windows Me/98 system. It will completely remove the driver from the sytsem. 8) Known Issues/Limitations: a) VIA USB 2.0 Host Controller Driver - Limitation: 1. Only USB wakeup from S3 (by mouse or keyboard) is supported. Of course, your system BIOS should support/enable this function First. Issues: 2. If some specific USB devices are plugged in, you may NOT Hibernate or Shutdown the system. 3. If you connect a USB 2.0 hub to the root hub and continue to plug some USB devices into this hub. The system would be hung with some specific USB devices or these USB devices might not be recognized. 9) History: Version 2.54 (2003/01/10): Fix APLUS USB 2.0 WebCam (Bulk) can't work in WinMe/98. Fix some Bulk devices with Cypress/In-System drivers can't work in WinMe/98. Fix setup program doesn't reboot in Windows XP SP1. Version 2.53 (2002/12/06): Fix some USB CD-ROM can not be safed removed under Windows 98. Version 2.52 (2002/11/14): Fix some USB CD-ROM can not be safed removed under Windows 2000. Note. For Windows 2000, if not all of the 1.1 USB host controllers are enabled then V2.51 will fail. This issue had been fixed in V2.52. Version 2.51 (2002/10/31): Some USB CD-ROM can not be safed removed under Windows 2000. --> Fixed. Some USB 1.1 low speed device can not be recognized under Windows 2000 and Windows XP. --> Fixed. Version 2.48 (2002/10/16): Some USB devices will be reenumerated after resuming from S3 in Windwos 2000 and Windows XP. --> Fixed. Version 2.47 (2002/10/04): Due to legal issue, remove Microsoft EHCI driver stack for Windows XP from the package.
