Pentium III Xeon B0 Stepping (MU267238) ? Pentium III Xeon C0 Stepping (MU26732E) ? Pentium III Xeon A0 Stepping (MU26A003) BIOS UPDATE procedure: Please Update BIOS by the following way. NEVER REMOVE THE UPDATE FLOPPY DISK MEDIA, NEVER POWER OFF OR NEVER RESET WHILE UPDATE PROGRAM IS RUNNING, OR BIOS WILL BE CRASHED AND THE SYSTEM WILL BE UNABLE TO BOOT. 1. Prepare MS-DOS bootable FD(1.44MB) by your MS-DOS (This update kit does not include MS-DOS) . Memory Managers like HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE must NOT be loaded when running PHLASH.EXE. It is recommended that only the following two lines be included in the config.sys file. files=20 buffers=30 2. Unzip the released zip file and copy all the files into the above bootable floppy disk. Insert the Bootable update FD to FDD of Your Express5800 and power on. 4. BIOS update program starts after POST and BIOS program is updated automatically. When update program is completed, following message is displayed: Phoenix Phlash Status Flash memory has been successfully programmed. PRESS ANY KEY TO RESTART THE SYSTEM 5. Press any key to reset the system and remove the Bootable update FD. Then System restarts. 6. During extended memory count in POST, Press key. After POST, Setup menu will appear. Then set (or operate) as following: (1) Advanced menu – Memory Reconfiguration -> Confirm the status of installed DIMM group is "NORMAL". (2) Advanced menu – CPU Reconfiguration -> Confirm the status of installed CPU is "NORMAL". (3) Advanced menu – L3 cache Reconfiguration(if CPU Box is installed) -> Confirm the status of Address and Data array is "NORMAL". (4) Advanced menu – Advanced – Installed OS -> Select "PnP O/S" to use Windows 2000. Select "Other" to use other OS. (5) Advanced menu – Advanced – Reserving memory space for PHP -> Set a size of PCI Memory to be reserved, which is used when the PCI hot plug function is executed for PCI slots currently not containing a PCI board. (6) System Hardware menu – Error Log Initialization -> Press Enter. The message "Error Log Cleared" is displayed when you cleared the error log. When failed to clear, the message "Error Log Not Cleared" is displayed. (7) Boot menu -> Change the boot order. 1. [ATAPI CD-ROM Drive] 2. [Diskette Drive] 3. [Hard Drive] 4. [Intel UNDI PXE2.0 (Build71)] (8) Exit menu -> select Save Change & Exit and press Enter . Then the system will restart. Notes: 1. Indication of "System RAM" during POST shows the size of the main memory used in MS-DOS. 2. Indication of "Extended RAM" during POST shows the size of the main memory which exceeds 1MB. 3. In case of having no redundant power module configuration, the following message will be displayed. "Notice: Your System Redundant Power Supply is not configured". 4. Please do not install a PCI VGA board into second and third PCI bus slots(PCI#21/22/23/24/31/32/33/34). If you use optional PCI VGA board, it must always be installed into first PCI bus slots(PCI#11/12). 5. If the detected temperature is out of range to the setting values before booting up the OS, the following message will be displayed on the screen. "0B71: System temperature out of the range." 6. During extended memory count-up, Space key can skip some part of the interval. 7. "PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Rel 6.0.0028" will appear on the screen as the BIOS Revision. --- end of document ----
